Helping your child to succeed evening

On 15th October we held our annual Year 10 Helping your child to succeed evening

We know that active parental involvement in a child’s education is absolutely vital. Indeed research has found that "the most accurate predictor of a student's achievement in school is not income or social status but the extent to which that student's family is able to:

  1. Create a home environment that encourages learning
  2. Express high (but not unrealistic) expectations for their children's achievement and future careers
  3. Become involved in their children's education at school and in the community”

To help parents know how they can support their child more effectively we run an annual Helping your child to succeed evening for Year 10 parents. The aim of the evening is to give students practical steps/advice that they can use to actively support their children. Although the evening focuses on the core subjects of English, maths, science and RS the advice is transferrable to all subjects.

A copy of the presentation used can be found below. If parents have any questions regarding the information given or are looking for ways in which they can offer support for their children please do contact the school.
