Go4SET Project

Six boys from Year 8 attended the launch of the Go4SET project this week at the Tewksbury Gloscol Launchpad site. This initiative is a competition run by the EDT (engineering Development Trust) with 14 different teams of 6 students completing a project over 10 weeks with support from Company mentors and then presenting their findings through a report, a model, a display board and a 5 minute presentation.

Their first challenge of the day was to work together construct the highest stable tower out of 12 sheets of paper and sellotape to support a paper plate and wooden block. The boys produced the highest legitimate tower but as it was unfortunately unstable were still pleased to receive a special mention from the judge .They also gained an insight in the day to day life of a hardware engineer and had the chance to meet their 2 mentors from EDF energy and choose their project from 3 options.
