An Academy

G15 Celebration

Students from Severn Vale joined students from the G15 group of schools in Gloucester Cathedral to put on their summer showcase.

The G15 Celebration of Success allowed each school to put forward an item which could be sung, danced or played – or a combination of all three. And their performances almost raised the roof of the Cathedral. Sarah Tufnell, chairman of the G15 Partnership and headteacher of Barnwood Park Arts College, said: “This event is something that we can only stage in collaboration with each other. It is bigger than anything one institution could stage alone.”

The Milestone School opened the event with a Japanese Taiko drumming. Katie Jackson from Barnwood Park, Nathan Howarth from Chosen Hill School and Timothy Hubbard of Sir Thomas Rich’s School then took to the lectern and provided an account of how the G15 Student Groups work. The groups are spearheading the national 14-18 Legacy to raise £1million for the Royal British Legion in the four-year centenary of the First World War.

The Severn Vale students performed an Adele medley accompanied by the school band. The students had practised hard over the previous weeks with Miss Butler to ensure that their performance was note perfect and they didn't disappoint as the quality of their performance was superb.

A huge thank you goes to Miss Butler and the Music department for supporting the students.
