Year 8 Praise Event- Biblins Campsite

40 students from Year 8 enjoyed a great weekend camping in the beautiful Wye Valley

The year 8 praise event this year took the form of a residential camping trip to the beautiful Wye Valley. This year 40 students were chosen to go camping for 2 nights at the Biblins campsite, Ross on Wye. The students were chosen for their excellent attitude to learning throughout term 5.

The staff and pupils set off from school lunchtime on the Friday and returned to school on the Sunday. The weather was extremely kind to us all weekend and allowed the students to gain a real appreciation of the great outdoors! Highlights for the students included spending time on the pebble beach just down from the campsite and discovering a waterfall deep in the woodland.

Saturday included a long walk to Symonds Yat where we stopped for ice cream and then crossed the River Wye on a hand-pulled ferry. Students then walked to Symonds Yat West and were able to play mini golf, visit a butterfly zoo and get lost in a maze.

Dinner on both nights was followed by a roaring campfire where the students enjoyed toasting marshmallows and singing campfire songs. The students were a credit to the school and thoroughly enjoyed their time camping. There are already plans for next year’s trip which looks likely to include even more students!
