In KS3 we cover a range of topics to give pupils experience of an ICT and Computer Science based curriculum in order to prepare them for their choices at KS4.

Year 7

KS4

Options are:

OCR GCSE Computing:

This course involves a 20% Non-Exam Assessment and 80% examination covered by completing 2 exams in Yr 11.

Pupils will cover:

Computer systems • Systems Architecture • Memory • Storage • Wired and wireless networks • Network topologies, protocols and layers • System security • System software • Ethical, legal, cultural and environmental concerns

Computational thinking, algorithms and programming • Algorithms * • Programming techniques • Producing robust programs • Computational logic • Translators and facilities of languages • Data representation

Programming project • Programming techniques • Analysis • Design • Development • Testing and evaluation and conclusions

Cambridge Nationals Creative IMedia

This course involves 3 pieces of coursework and one examination

Pupils will cover:

  • Creating Digital Graphics
  • Creating a Game Concept
  • Interactive Multimedia
  • Pre-Production Skills (exam)
