Geography Nature Reserve Trip

This week, our Y11 geographers had a trip the Quedgeley Nature Reserve. This trip was to conduct an introduction to fieldwork as part of their GCSE Geography paper 3.

The students had two work sheets to complete while on this trip. The worksheet was to describe two separate locations, one with just nature and one on a busy main road to see the comparisons and how they both affect our planet.

The students had lots of fun learning about different trees, plants and wildlife. We came across trees that were imported from America and man-made wildlife habitats, for example: badger setts for a safe home for the wildlife. The students learnt about the man-made pond with a mix of rain water and manually placed branches for frogs to lay their spawn.
