Swansea Rugby Tour 2026

On Friday 17th April, we took our Year 7 rugby squad on our annual tour to Swansea.
On Friday afternoon, we played against Cwm Brombil in Port Talbot. Playing Welsh schools is always a tough challenge, and this fixture was no exception. It was a physically demanding game from the first whistle, giving our boys no breathing space. Despite a 45–5 loss, the students showed tremendous resilience, never giving up and continuing to work hard right until the final whistle. It was a brilliant learning experience and a real test of character.
On Friday evening, we checked into the hotel before walking into Swansea for the legendary Global Buffet. This is always a highlight of the tour for both students and staff, giving everyone the chance to enjoy as much food as they like from cuisines around the world!
Saturday was an early start, leaving the hotel at 8:30am to drive through the beautiful Neath Valley for our river gorge and waterfall jumping activity. This is always a personal highlight of the trip. Each year, students discover something new about themselves—whether it’s finding the courage to jump into cold, fast‑flowing water, climbing rock faces, or jumping off waterfalls—all while surrounded by stunning scenery.
We then headed straight back to the hotel for a quick 30‑minute turnaround before heading out for 18 holes of footgolf along Swansea’s seafront. This new addition to the tour was a big success and will definitely be returning next year.
Later in the day, we finished with beach tag rugby. The weather was perfect, and the boys also enjoyed some well‑earned downtime, with the odd sandcastle appearing along the way.
Much to the shock and horror of the boys, we then walked back from the beach to the hotel for dinner at 7:30pm. It had been a long but rewarding day, and it’s safe to say everyone slept very well that night.
On Sunday, we packed up and walked into Swansea for the final time, spending some time in the shops before finishing the tour with a game of laser tag. We returned to SV at 3:00pm.
I would like to thank the boys for their commitment, effort, and behaviour throughout the tour. It was a significant challenge for many, with some being away from their families for the first time. I would also like to thank the staff for their continued support and for helping to make the tour better each year.
Roll on Swansea Rugby Tour 2027 and Portugal 2028!
Many thanks,
Mr Rogers, Mr Higgs, Mr Gamston and Mr Blacklock
