In their Futures lessons Students in Year 9 have been looking into what it is that creates our    nation through a topic entitled ‘Identities and Diversity’.  The students have explored issues ranging from democracy and voting through to multiculturalism and personal identity with some challenging debates along the way. 

The topic culminated in a ‘surprise me’ homework where the students were challenge to produce something that showed they had reflected upon the themes we discussed.  The creative response was overwhelming.  Below are just a few of the amazing things pupils produced:

Lego animation of how our voting system works.	Advent calendar. Behind each door is a cultural or religious group in Britain and an  explanation of how they         celebrate    Christmas.
Britain in a box.  Filled with iconic images that pop-up to show everything that makes Britain great!	Power Point exploring Britain’s stereotypes and the role the media play in creating them.
Cupcakes with info’ flags!	A collage of all things British!
