Medical Conditions and Allergies
Medical Conditions and Allergies
Here at Severn Vale, we truly believe that having a medical condition or allergies should not be a barrier to a child thriving whilst accessing secondary education and beyond. Therefore, we want to ensure that those students with medical conditions and allergies are supported within school to achieve this.
Knowing about your medical conditions and allergies
It is vitally important for us to be aware of students with medical conditions and allergies within the school community. If your child is seeing the doctor about a possible medical condition or allergy, you have a new medical condition or allergy or there is a change in your diagnosis or medication, please let us know. This will help us to better support your child and put any measures in place to make their day-to-day activities easier.
The easiest way to let us know is by e-mailing IHP@severnvaleschool.com Please include the students name, tutor group and information about the new/ potential medical condition/ allergy or changes to the current information we have as a school.
How can we support you?
Individual Care Plan – Certain medical conditions and allergies will mean that an individual care plan will be completed. This allows us to gain an understanding of your child’s condition, how it affects them, what support is needed in school and what to do in an emergency. The plans will be regularly reviewed.
First aiders – In school, there are a number of trained first aiders who also have specific training for medication to treat conditions like epilepsy.
School Nurse – The school nursing team attend the school on a regular basis and appointments, for those who need them, can be booked with this team.
Staff aware – Our staff have an awareness of which students have medical condition and allergies and up to date information is easily accessible via our register system.
Policies
The medical conditions and allergies policies will be uploaded here shortly.
