Sport in School
Former South African Rugby International Thinus Delport and England’s Woman’s rugby fullback Danielle Waterman, took time out of their busy schedule to answer SVS School Reports Questions.
Thinus Delport has played for teams like Gloucester Rugby in 2002 and Worcester Warriors in 2004 at Fullback or on the wing, starting his career in 1997 for the Lions in South Africa. Danielle Waterman is the daughter of Jim Waterman who played over 400 games for Bath rugby. She now plays for Bath too as well as her 54 appearances for England’s Woman’s rugby at fullback. Also she won the award for most promising player in 2006.
I asked them questions about sport in school and the effect the Olympics has have on sport in general, not just in school and what their most memorable news event during their lifetime.
They all agree that it’s important to experience success and failure during sport as it’s important to bounce back and persevere through difficult times. Also they believe that it’s important to keep the Olympic legacy alive as the Olympics have increased the number of people that now participate in sport. Also they now plan on bringing in new sports in school like table tennis and they also plan on doing a course outside of school like skiing.
